Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026
Draft notice: this policy is a working draft published for transparency while Margot Weddings is in its early-access period. It will be reviewed and may be updated before general availability.

The short version

Margot Weddings exists to help you plan your wedding, not to monetize your information. We collect only what the product needs to work, we never sell your data, and we don't show ads. Guests never see a couple's private planning data — only the details the couple chooses to publish.

What we collect

Account information. When a couple creates an account, we collect an email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored in plain text.

Wedding planning data. The information you enter to plan your wedding: event details, budget entries, calendar items, vendor notes, registry items, seating arrangements, and your guest list (which may include guest names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses that you provide).

Guest information. When a guest signs in to a wedding's website, we collect the name they sign in with, a password they choose (stored only as a secure hash) or an email login code, and any RSVP details they submit — attendance, party size, meal choice, dietary needs, and contact details they choose to share with the couple.

Chat messages. Questions you or your guests ask Margot are processed to generate a reply (see "AI processing" below). Couple chat history is stored with your wedding data so the conversation picks up where it left off.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your wedding data to train AI models. We do not show guests anything beyond what the couple has chosen to publish — budgets, private notes, and the full guest list are never visible to guests.

AI processing

Margot's answers are generated using Anthropic's Claude models. When you or a guest ask Margot a question, the message and the relevant wedding context (for guests, only the published details) are sent to Anthropic's API to produce the reply. Anthropic processes this data as a service provider under its commercial terms, which do not permit it to train models on this data.

Service providers

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the product: Supabase (database and account authentication), Render (application hosting), Cloudflare (domain and network services), Anthropic (AI responses), and Brevo (transactional email such as RSVP reminders and login codes). Each receives only the data needed to perform its role.

Cookies and local storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage for practical things only: keeping you signed in, remembering which tab you had open, and — if you use the app without an account — storing your planning data on your own device.

Couples and their guests

Couples add their guests' names and contact details to run their own wedding. That information is used only to provide the wedding's website, RSVP collection, and the emails the couple chooses to send (such as RSVP reminders or day-of schedules). If you're a guest and want your information corrected or removed, you can ask the couple directly or contact us at the address below.

Data retention and deletion

Your wedding data is kept for as long as your account exists. To delete your account and its data, email us at hello@margotweddings.com and we'll confirm once removal is complete.

Security

All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as secure hashes, guest links use unguessable tokens, and server credentials are never exposed to the browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that a guest can never reach private planning data.

Children

Margot Weddings is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Guest lists may include children's names and meal choices supplied by adults for event planning purposes only.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and note the change on this page. Continued use of the service after a change means the updated policy applies.
